These Rules are liable to be updated at any time without notice and will become effective immediately. All members are subject to these Rules. Failure to comply with them may result in an official warning, and if they are continually flouted the member is likely to be banned.
Any queries should be addressed to Ehnel.
Regarding Posting
1. Every endeavour must be made to post using correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. If you have genuine problems with reading and writing, for example dyslexia, please do inform a moderator or administrator of this fact so that an exception can be made.
2. Please refrain from posting "one-liners", i.e., a post which contains only one line of text (often "I agree", "Yeah", "I think that too", etc) or merely a smilie. Only post when you have something relevant to say. Otherwise, the post takes up valuable space.
3. Posts are to be kept respectful at all times. No exceptions. No flaming, unpleasant arguments, or abuse will be tolerated on These Old Boards. Any posts in this theme will be deleted, and the member(s) involved will be sent a private message containing an official warning.
4. No spam. If you post spam, your account will be deleted immediately.
Regarding Privacy and Security
Members may exchange personal information (for example, full names and address) with each other via private messaging, although it is highly recommended that you do not, but if these are publicly posted they will be deleted as soon as possible in the interests of the security of the relevant member.
Regarding Age-restricted Material
Adult material of any sort may not be posted, and if material bears a rating of NC-17, you may not link to it. If you do either of these, you will be sent a private message containing an official warning.
However, should you wish to link to R-rated material, you may, on the condition that you place a warning before the link stating that it leads to R-rated material.
Regarding Spoilers
1. If you are linking to anything containing spoilers for anything, you must post a warning before the link, so no one innocently clicks on the link and is spoiled.
2. If you are writing a spoiler for Georgette Heyer anywhere apart from in the forums Discussing the Books or Discussing the Characters, you must post a line of spoiler space before the spoiler, so no one reads it by accident. This rule also applies for any discussion of films, TV, books, fanfiction, etc. (Remember, you can use quote and color=white tags to hide spoilers. (See A Guide to Coding to learn how to do this.)
Miscellaneous
1. Please make sure your signature is no deeper than 4 cm, or approximately 200 pixels. This is in order to be user-friendly for members on dial-up internet who don't have the time to load large images or a lot of text.
